Programs

Bee Awareness offers the following programs to engage students in embracing bees and pollinators of all kinds. We facilitate understanding and awareness of these incredibly important keystone species, their function in nature and the challenges they face as well as how to help them.  We do this through fun, inspiring and interactive learning processes including games, stories, crafts, and of course, live observation beehives!

Webinar

Don’t let distance or Covid-19 restrictions stop you from getting the buzz about bees- we have a zoom option for you! Our 45 min program can successfully engage students from ages 6 and up with pictures, puppets, story time, and loads of enthusiasm.

Host a Hive

This program is available to schools who are interested in having a live observation hive installed for a full year to love and tend. It includes the installation (minus the cost of plexiglass window insert) of a 2-3 frame observation honey bee hive, an hour-long teacher tutorial on hive care and maintenance and a one hour-long interactive in-class presentation for students.

BAS Extended Host a Hive

This is our most extensive program, available to a select few schools who would like to more fully embrace the incredible potential and impact of learning with the bees. It includes the installation (minus the cost of plexiglass window insert) of a 2-3 frame observation honey bee hive, an hour-long teacher tutorial on hive care and maintenance, and three ½ day programs spaced throughout the year. We take students on a seasonal tour of the bees with this program extracting honey in the fall, making lip balm in the winter and seed bombs in the spring.
